Happy Monday to all! I feel rested and ready for a really busy September after our summer shutdown in August. I enjoyed family time and also some special time with my Bracco Italiano Hank. We were also parents to Beagle Wilson who passed over the rainbow bridge nearly two years ago (which was gut-wrenching).
I have always been a massive dog lover, having been brought up with them since I was born. I am a huge animal lover in general, ever since I started formulating cosmetics #petcare has always interested me, I have been quite active in formulating Pet Care products recently, the demand for more sustainable and natural formulations is growing within this category, it’s great to see more and more ingredient suppliers launching ingredients aimed for pets, the demand for more innovative formulas isn’t just limited for pets but also for cattle and animals that compete such as horses, there is so much potential for innovation in this area and Global Cosmetic Developments Ltd is excited to be at the forefront of it.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of helping out at the CATALYST SCIENCE DISCOVERY CENTRE AND MUSEUM TRUST LIMITED for their Sun Protection Scientists Workshop. The UV Photo Booth was an eye opener in terms of how it can show you how well you have applied sunscreen, demonstrating the importance of application and how much you apply determines how well you are protecting yourself from UV rays. Well done to the team at the museum and to all the sponsors @symrise.ci @croda_beauty @thectpa @tancreamworld @thglabsbeauty @bootsuk Cosmetics Cluster Uk, Cheshire and Merseyside Cancer Alliance and us @global_cosmetic_developments the workshop is interactive and fun and hopefully helps inspire the next generation of Suncare scientists! #Hair and #Scalpcare are evolving, over the last few years new product categories are emerging within the #haircare category due to the demand for more sustainable #shampoo and #conditioners which includes switching to more sustainable cleansing and conditioning agents or creating formulas that reduce the amount of water needed for cleansing, conditoning and hair styling, both in the manufacturing process and for general use.
Scalp care is now a whole new product category, its evolution is changing the way we look after our hair and scalp and is changing the traditional approach to cleansing, conditioning and hair styling.
Over the past few years we have been very involved in developing formulas within this category which has helped me learn about innovative approches to hair and scalp care, it is also refreshing to see quite a few suppliers bringing to market more natural alternatives to synthetic conditioning agents such as PQ10 and BTAC, they seem to have their challenges but do perform really well.
Often the science in haircare goes overlooked, it really isn’t easy and experience is essential to develop cutting edge formulations.

Scaling up formulations that we have developed for our customers is an exciting part of our process as we are able to see the product come to life! Scale-up is such an important part of the cosmetic formulation development process to ensure the formula and method is scalable for large scale production.
Our bulk scale up trials can help identify any challenges that may need to be overcome come during production such as:
*How to handle certain bulk materials in larger quantities that need to be added to the formula on a larger scale.
*Identify if the method of manufacture at lab scale may need to be adjusted during bulk scale-up that will make it easier for larger scale production. *Assess if the formula specifications need to be changed slightly to allow for variations with mixing speeds, ph/viscosity adjustments and raw materials.
